She's a stay at home mom, so while my siblings and I are at school, she usually makes a huge pot of sauce about once or twice a month that will get around 4 meals out of it for 8 people... so around 32 servings of sauce, not counting leftovers. We eat pasta a LOT.
Honsetly after I've done that aglio e olio dish a few times I reduced the time I need to the time the water needs to boil and cook the noodles plus 2-3 minutes for the final result which is a pretty good time I guess.
This time when I am an Italian Chef born and raised in Rome and I assure you that *Fettuccine* (fettuccini doesn't exist as a plural) as 1 fettuccina 2-more fettuccin*E* Alfredo... And that one is NOT aglio e olio at all! 😐😑😐
Even cooking just the pasta takes more than 5 minutes. I thought maybe they meant active time, except they don't because the 5 hour pasta is probably less active time than the 50 minute pasta.
@@averly9295 pasta cooks at different rates. Fresh egg pasta could take from 2 to 5 mins. Dryed pasta (usually hard wheat) could take 3 to 15 mins. (Spaghetti takes about 12-13 mins, or stuffed pasta like tortellini takes about 3-5) Complex dishes could take up to 1h of cooking (like lasagna)

Made fresh pasta for the first time earlier this year. Hand kneading is not for the weak, it took me 18 minutes to get to a point where the dough bounced back but after that, I was pretty happy with the results!
"it takes 7 minutes to prepare this dish" me: spends 15 minutes getting ingredients out, 12 minutes boiling water and then another 11 cooking the pasta, takes an extra 10 to cut the herbs and make the sauce, takes extra 5 to rewind video because i forgot what the next step was me: *takes an hour to create a five minute recipe*

Made fresh pasta for the first time earlier this year. Hand kneading is not for the weak, it took me 18 minutes to get to a point where the dough bounced back but after that, I was pretty happy with the results!
